What the Course Offers
The SlingSmart training will lead to full qualification as a Babywearing Peer Supporter. The content includes these and many more;
- History of Babywearing
- Benefits of carrying to baby and wearer
- What is a Peer Supporter and what makes a good Peer Supporter?
- Working within your remit – when to refer
- Safety in a Sling Library/Clinic setting
- Safety in Slings and Carriers
- Ergonomic Positioning
There are also demonstration videos showing how to safely use;
- Stretchy wrap and a hybrid variation
- Woven wrap in a front wrap cross carry
- Ring Sling
- Tie-on carrier (Meh dai)
- Soft-structured carriers and a variety of possible newborn inserts/adaptations
You will have access to all of these videos in future, after completion of the course.
You will be required to complete some written coursework, based on case studies and scenarios, following the course, and you will need to demonstrate your educational skills in one area of carrying via video or Skype.
Please discuss with SlingSmart if the video options will be difficult for you and alternative arrangements can be made. If you do not own any carriers to complete your video with, then these can be hired from a local or postal sling library, purchased through this website, or you can provide a video giving general safety advice rather than a demonstration.
How does online training work?
Online training is provided through a series of online modules and videos, delivered via a user-friendly platform on this website, to access and complete at your own time and convenience.
